6 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE Raw (Nov 14)
Ups…
6. Dominik Napoleon
There’s the old cartoon trope of the small, brash loudmouth hiding behind his bigger compatriot, yelling and firing up at an enemy from literally behind his protector, emboldened by the safety his friend provides.
Dominik Mysterio was that cartoon come to life Monday night, and it was glorious.
Mysterio came upon Shelton Benjamin being interviewed backstage and immediately called him out as a career failure who couldn’t get it done against his “deadbeat dad” and Uncle Eddie Guerrero – whom Dom’s better than already, just ask him. When Shelton fired up, Dominik immediately hid behind Damian Priest, who made himself as broad as possible.
What sold this as insanely great was Mysterio leaning around Priest’s shoulder and echoing Damian’s words, punctuating them with “Yeah!” and the like. It just made him look like someone who was overcompensating, and it worked fantastically. If you didn’t “hate” Dominik before this, you certainly should have after.
