UPS…

6. Next Up For Gunther

Chad Gable Ricochet Bronson Reed

WWE’s midcard continues to improve week by week, to the point where they’re now having number one contender’s matches for the Intercontinental Championship with wrestlers who have existing storylines/angles rather than just random superstars thrown out there.

Ricochet, Chad Gable and Bronson Reed all battled for that spot Monday night, and as expected, Reed dominated large portions of the match, while Gable and Ricochet dazzled with their flashy offense. Gable in particular once again looked tremendous, hitting a German suplex on Bronson and nailing a Chaos Theory on Ricochet, but Reed plucked the One and Only, dropped him on top of Gable and squashed Ricochet with a Tsunami.

This sets up an interesting all-heel match with two big hosses going at it next week. It will be fascinating to see that dynamic play out and learn which superstar rallies fans to his side.

Meanwhile, Ricochet saw his feud with Shinsuke Nakamura spill over with a backstage attack and then a blindside before the triple threat, setting up a match for next week. And Gable’s tale of trying to get back to Gunther will obviously continue, as the dream is delayed, not denied. That’s so unusual for WWE to see all three competitors in a midcard multi-man match having clear stories coming out of the bout.
