6 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE Raw (Results & Review - 9 Oct)
4. Women’s Division Chaos
Say what you will about Nia Jax injecting chaos into the women’s division, but the truth is, she did exactly what was needed.
The women’s division has pretty stale since the draft, with Rhea Ripley having a banner year as part of a stable and a rotten one post-WrestleMania 39. She hasn’t felt seriously threatened since winning the title, with no one really stepping up in the way that turns heads.
Rather than slowly build up a challenger, WWE has gone the route of taking Jax, who was released nearly two years ago and hadn’t competed since then, and just depositing the sh*t-stirrer into the middle of the division to sow discontent. We saw the results on full display Monday, with Rhea causing a DQ in the Jax/Rodriguez match, which drew out Shayna Baszler, who leveled Ripley for shoving her.
The women’s division hasn’t looked hotter in that regard, as four women wildly brawling because they want a shot at Ripley’s title is a great little story, and it could spin off into several singles and tag matches. Just like that, you have chaos, but in a controlled way, and that’s something the division sorely needed.
