6 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE SmackDown (1 May - Results & Review)

1. That Plodding Main Event

Worse, the main event tag-team bout pitting Solo Sikoa and Talla Tonga vs. The Usos was nondescript and flat until Jacob Fatu’s run-in. Fatu’s intensity made the end of the show better, but that wasn’t enough to get rid of the main event’s stench. You'd think that Jimmy, Jey and Solo in particular would have more chemistry together, but they always seem so dull when working opposite one another.

It's strange.

Being fair, the company really tried their best to put some aura on Talla by having him take out The Usos earlier in the night, then blast through both Royce Keys and Fatu backstage. Here, during SmackDown's headliner, he was a force to be reckoned with once more. The problem? Fans have watched this big man get torn down once too often by the likes of The Wyatt Sicks, so it's tough to treat him as an Oba Femi-style bruiser.

That was spotlighted further when Jacob single-handedly put him through the announce desk right at the end of this episode. Sure, Fatu is the priority right now, but Sikoa was right there for that spot, and they could've got to the Tongan Death Grip plot point afterwards anyway. If anyone, it should've been Jimmy and Jey who teamed up to take Talla out.

That's a minor gripe, eh? The biggest issue with all of this biz is that the actual match time was a waste of your time. Nothing really happened before the 'Samoan Werewolf' came out to wake the live crowd in Oklahoma up.
