6 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE SmackDown (8 May - Results & Review)

Ups...

6. Way Better Than Expected

Talla Tonga Damian Priest

Talla Tonga vs. Damian Priest had in-ring disaster written all over it ahead of the opening bell, but both guys actually did really well with their spot on the show. The pair didn’t slow things down too much, and there was plenty of interference in the form of Tama Tonga and R-Truth to keep things motoring along.

Then, Royce Keys came out to side with the babyfaces post-match and stare down Solo Sikoa. So, in short, there’s a 6-man incoming. Not mad at it, because it's the best use of everyone involved right now. Please keep Keys away from an unnecessary swerve turn to become Solo's next monster bodyguard though. That'd be a poor spot for him, and it's obvious to anyone who has been paying attention that Sikoa needs a refresh anyway.

Back on the plus side, this is arguably the best Talla has looked in-ring since debuting. Priest gave him a lot, to his credit, and Damian can be proud of how well he marshalled the match. This is the closest Priest has been to a ring general on the babyface side, and he should be pleased with the shift he put in. Let's hope that earned him a pat on the back from Triple H at Gorilla.

Cards on the table: On paper, this looked like a definite 'Down', so it's neat to gush with praise for Talla vs. Priest after watching it. Keep this one in your back pockets, WWE. It's always something you can come back to later on down the road.
