6 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE SmackDown (July 31)

3. Sheamus Contradicts Himself

It looks like swaggering Irish bar brawler Sheamus is here to stay, at least for a while. He produced a passable backstage promo on SmackDown that closed the door on his feud with Jeff Hardy (Sheamus said that Jeff was everyone else's problem now, because his bid to exorcise Jeff's demons had fallen on deaf ears).

The Irishman went on to say that he wasn't prepared to make excuses for his 'Bar Fight' loss last week. It was what it was, and he's absolutely sure that Jeff was out his face on booze before locking up. That doesn't really make any sense. If Hardy had been p*ssed, then he wouldn't have been able to put up as much of a fight, surely.

Sheamus also made excuses after saying he wouldn't.

He contradicted himself in a short promo, which was confusing. The better play would've been transitioning out of the Hardy feud into something else. Instead, fans have no clue what Sheamus' next move on Friday nights is.
