6 Ups & 5 Downs For WWE Raw (7 July - Results & Review)
Ups…
6. The Weakest Link, But…
Seth Rollins’ clan set out Monday night to eradicate three of its biggest problems: Penta, Sami Zayn, and Jey Uso. The group would get the (relatively) clean sweep, but one of those was bound to be a weaker exhibition than the others.
Enter Jey Uso versus Bronson Reed. This was never going to be an in-ring classic, and thankfully, they never even tried. In fact, the match barely had gotten into second gear when Reed hurled an announcer’s chair at Jey as he attempted a suicide dive, triggering a disqualification.
From there, Bronson flattened Uso with two Tsunamis, putting Jey down and possibly knocking him out of action for a bit. Given that that was the group’s MO – not winning matches, but taking out the opposition – this was a great call. Why make fans sit through a 10-minute mediocre match that wasn’t going to have a clean finish anyway? Instead, go about three minutes and then segue straight into the post-match beatdown.
The only thing they could have done differently was have Reed deliver at least one more Tsunami after the officials arrived so he looked a bit more uncontrollable. By stopping when Raw GM Adam Pearce arrived, Bronson looked way too compliant.
