6 Ups & 5 Downs From AEW Dynamite (Dec 23)

3. Dustin Rhodes Vs Evil Uno

The Seven gag is now becoming a little laboured, but the same will seemingly never be said for the work of Dustin Rhodes. Another week and another cracking television match from the company's in-ring elder statesmen that looked slicker than half the stuff he was doing in his prime.

On paper, it appeared like a battle that might struggle without significant narrative heft, but Rhodes' angle with the group has now twice proven to be enough when collated with his remarkable in-ring form. Both he and Uno hit hard, worked sh*tloads into their eight allocated minutes, and subsequently elevated the post-match stuff as a result.

Rhodes, QT Marshall and Lee Johnson taking on the faction doesn't exactly scream exhilaration, but it's not as though all of them don't deserve the shot to make it so.
