6 Ups & 5 Downs From WWE Raw (10 June - Results & Review)

3. A War Of Attrition

WWE Raw Ilja Dragunov Bron Breakker

Bron Breakker in a lengthy back-and-forth match seemed to be a risky proposition, as noted in last week’s column. However, Monday night’s battle with Ilja Dragunov disproved that point in glorious fashion.

Breakker and Dragunov had a slugfest of a match on Raw, just wailing on each other with bombs and hitting each other with everything but the proverbial kitchen sink. Dragunov seemed to have Bron on the ropes a few times, but the explosive superstar managed to put down the Mad Dragon with a series of spears inside and outside the ring, surviving the match rather than persevering.

While not on the level of a Gunther/Sheamus match, it wasn’t hard to see similarities in the power game and heavy hitting between the two young superstars. Breakker definitely benefited from having the perfect opponent for a lengthy match, but you have to chalk that up to smart matchmaking rather than cautioning against making a mistake down the road. Good call on this match and continuing to make Bron look like the most dangerous person on the roster.
