6 Ups & 5 Downs From WWE Raw (10 June - Results & Review)
5. Ricochet’s Write-Off
If this is indeed Ricochet’s swansong in WWE, then he at least went out doing a Rey Mysterio lawn dart impersonation and making someone else look amazing in the process.
Ricochet came to Ilja Dragunov’s aide at ringside and chased Bron Breakker off after his match with the Mad Dragon, but the two reignited the fight backstage, where Bron absolutely decimated Rico. Breakker threw Ricochet into a production truck, ala Rey versus Kevin Nash in 1996 WCW, then powerslammed the One and Only off a set of steps through the windshield and hood of a car.
This seemingly was done as a way to write off Ricochet from WWE programming, as he reportedly has told the company he won’t be re-signing when his contract expires soon. While some might view this as a burial, it’s a very old-school method of writing off a wrestler: have the fighter get beat up by someone you want to give some shine, and allow them to get over as you leave the territory. This accomplished that simple goal, despite Ricochet’s comical groaning.
