6 Ups & 5 Downs From WWE Raw (17 July - Review)

2. Tag Title Hot Potato

In this era of long WWE title reigns, one championship stands apart from the others, changing hands at a pace not seen since the glory days of the 24/7 Championship: the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship.

The women’s tag titles have changed hand an astonishing four times since WrestleMania 39, with the latest coming Monday night when Chelsea Green & Sonya Deville captured the straps, defeating two-time champions Raquel Rodriquez & Liv Morgan due to Raquel’s injured knee. They also became the third duo to hold the tag titles this month – and the month is less than three weeks old.

This isn’t a knock on Deville & Green, who have at least been a functional duo for some time now and aren’t a thrown-together act masquerading as a team. But watching the titles go from Becky Lynch & Lita to Raquel & Liv, to vacant, to Ronda Rousey & Shayna Baszler, to Raquel & Liv, and then to Chelsea & Sonya in just over three months is ridiculous.

It also probably doesn’t help that two of the past three champs aren’t teaming any more, and Rodriguez (or maybe Morgan) is being programmed for a feud with Rhea Ripley, and Deville & Green cleaned out the women’s tag “division” to earn the title match.
