6. Xia Li Picks Her Spot

Last week’s debacle involving Xia Li knocking Candice LeRae out was more about the execution, not the idea itself. The idea that she had a killshot in her arsenal was a sound one – it just looked clunky and awkward last week.

Monday night, however, Li made up for it by jumping the target of her rage, Becky Lynch. Xia attacked The Man outside the ring before the women’s battle royal, taking her out with that tornado kick and knocking her out of the match to crown a new number one contender. Li clearly was still miffed at being overlooked as a challenger for the NXT Women’s Championship when Becky was parading around with and defending it against several women on the Raw and NXT rosters.

The attack sets up a rivalry that could actually elevate Xia if done properly. Lynch certainly has seemed to relish the role of bringing along younger and newer wrestlers, so while last week’s match was a dud, this attack does pique some interest.
