6 Ups & 5 Downs From WWE Raw (April 11)

2. Making The Champ A Chump

It took WWE two weeks to make their new made woman Bianca Belair look like a chump on Raw Monday night.

Belair had been vocal about wanting to know who her next challenger for the Raw Women’s Championship would be, so Sonya Deville came out and pumped her up, then sprung an open contract on her, which Bianca signed. Then she said she was going to bring out her opponent… only to blindside the champ when her back was turned.

See, unless you were asleep, 3 years old or Belair herself, you knew that Deville was talking about herself, that she had booked herself in a title match. And after beating Bianca down, Sonya signed the contract and walked off.

It’s honestly about time that Deville’s run as a heelish authority figure came to a close, so if this gets her back in the ring and away from the “WWE official” title, then bully for her. And the evil authority figure finagling a title match isn’t a terrible angle – but having her embarrass the new champ just nine days after she won the title is ridiculous.

But then again, it’s not like WWE knows no other way to do this sort of thing.
