6 Ups & 6 Downs From AEW Dynamite (Jul 29)

5. A Solid But Unspectacular Title Defence

Hangman Page Kenny Omega
AEW

Hangman Page and Kenny Omega vs. Evil Uno and Stu Grayson was a lower-tier defence for the babyface tandem. That isn't to say it was outright bad (or even average), as the Elite tandem is remarkably consistent between the ropes, though it's hard to call it anything above "pretty good" in this diminished atmosphere.

New Dark Order recruit Anna Jay, who was accompanied out of the ring by the group weeks ago, joined Brodie Lee and Colt Cabana by the commentary desk. They watched on as Uno and Grayson entered a solid performance against the champions. The Dark Order felt more subdued than usual, working the faces over for a prolonged period, though the entire match came to life in a storm of offense late on. This broke the heels' control (shame on the producers for missing what looked like an incredible Grayson dive over the post, by the way) and Page and Omega took the W soon after, nailing the V-Trigger/Buckshot combo.

That there were no clear 'Cleaner' teases from Kenny is disappointing, though the tricky relationship between him and Page was played up well early on.
