6 Ups & 6 Downs From Impact Wrestling (Nov 5)
1. Celebration Cut Short
Championship celebrations in wrestling are usually decent enough events for the most part. Sami Callihan's was set to be no different as he and the rest of oVe were ready to welcome in the reign of 'The Draw', only to be interrupted by Tommy Dreamer, Tessa Blanchard, Rich Swann, and Daga.
From there, we had an eight person tag team match, which was fine enough. Tessa hit a beautiful somersault dive off the ropes, whereas Swann downed both Sami and Jake Crist with a double handspring cutter. Then, the finish happened. Callihan's piledriver attempt on Swann was countered into a victory roll for the three count.
Just seven days into his reign as the Impact World Champion, Sami Callihan had been pinned. If it was Tessa Blanchard pinning him, then it would've at least added something to the story. By having Rich Swann pin the current World Champion, it devalues 'The Callihan Death Machine' as champion before his run with the title has even properly began.
It did nothing to advance any stories. It was simply there to fulfil a wrestling nuance - no celebration can go ahead without descending into chaos.
