6 Ups & 6 Downs From This Week's Impact Wrestling (May 10)
2. In Seconds
Taya Valkyrie is the Knockouts Champion at the moment but throughout the majority of her tenure (especially in the recent months), she's been portrayed as nothing more than a coward. Last week saw her refusing to defend her championship until she contractually had to, and now she's tapped out to Madison Rayne within a matter of seconds of being placed in the hold.
Her reign hasn't exactly been the greatest of all time. She's been voluntarily counted out to retain her championship, she's associated herself with a corrupt referee, she's doing anything she physically can to hold on to her title. In certain situations, that can have the champion come across as smart and calculated. Here though, it has Taya come across as weak.
Even though Madison Rayne is an established name, she shouldn't be tapping out the current champion in seconds. Surely, they're having a championship match now. If not, then what's been the whole point of the past few weeks? It's a bit strange that the champion could be classed as being at the lower end of the rankings as opposed to her challengers.
