6 Ups & 6 Downs from WWE Raw (2 June - Results & Review)

Downs…

6. ‘We Want Truth!’

R-Truth
WWE

The easy thing to do would be to call out the Tulsa fans for being performative hypocrites for chanting “We Want Truth!” during Raw on Monday night.

After all, these fans showed up and performatively cheered, clapped, and chanted throughout the entire show and only sporadically broke out the pro-R-Truth chant, mostly during the women’s matches, which says a lot about them. But honestly, you can’t blame the fans for venting a bit at the system. These aren’t the same fans who took Raw hostage for weeks and months in 2014 by chanting for CM Punk, so their civil disobedience is going to be muted by comparison.

If you’re going to lay the blame at anyone’s feet, lay it at WWE’s for letting go one of its longest-tenured, most likeable superstars. By not renewing Truth’s contract after squandering what could have been a dynamic storyline with John Cena, WWE showed their true colors. This was just cruel corporate decision-making, and fans rightly called it out. Their timing could have been a bit better, so the fault lies with WWE.
