6 Ups & 6 Downs From WWE Raw (27 Feb - Results & Review)

3. Simple Sell For Friday

Not everything has to be a 10-minute soliloquy to sell someone on an angle or to convince people to tune in to watch a show.

In the case of Cody Rhodes Monday night, it took him less than 30 seconds… with a couple weeks of setup.

In recent weeks, Cody has remarked how he has yet to come face-to-face with his WrestleMania opponent Roman Reigns. It painted the picture of Reigns either ducking him or not deeming him important enough to face, while also building anticipation.

Then on Monday after defeating Chad Gable, Cody grabbed the mic, reiterated his point about Roman, then noted that Reigns would be on SmackDown this week… and so would Rhodes.

Just like that, you’ve got a reason to DVR the blue brand or tune in Friday night to see if the two come head-to-head finally. Done and done.

Scott is a former journalist and longtime wrestling fan who was smart enough to abandon WCW during the Monday Night Wars the same time as the Radicalz. He fortunately became a fan in time for WrestleMania III and came back as a fan after a long high school hiatus before WM XIV. Monday nights in the Carlson household are reserved for viewing Raw -- for better or worse.
