6 Ups & 6 Downs From WWE Raw (27 Feb - Results & Review)

4. Another Week, Another Bland Promo

At this point, you’ve got to hope that Austin Theory is saving a bunch of bullets for next week’s encounter with John Cena, because he’s firing blanks every week with his promos.

Theory’s cookie-cutter promo style might work OK in today’s WWE where homogenized interviews and matches are the order of the day, but when you know you’re going to be in the ring across from Cena with a live mic, you probably want to step up your game a bit so fans think you at least belong in the same ring as him.

This is definitely feeling like a case of WWE wanting to elevate Theory by putting him next to bigger stars and hoping that star power rubs off or transfers through osmosis. But listening to Austin talk, it just feels like he’ll be unfavorably compared and exposed.

He fortunately became a fan in time for WrestleMania III and came back as a fan after a long high school hiatus before WM XIV. Monday nights in the Carlson household are reserved for viewing Raw -- for better or worse.
