Downs…

6. More Miscommunication

Uggh. Can we please subvert at least one WWE trope?

After last week’s tag team match between New Day and the Viking Raiders saw Drew McIntyre interfere and cost Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods, the Scottish Warrior & Matt Riddle tangled with the Vikings in a Texas Tornado match.

One guess what happened here.

If you said, “New Day interferes and costs Drew and Matt the match,” you’re half-right. Kofi interfered alone, hitting Riddle with a Trouble in Paradise by mistake, and then got used as a battering ram to bash McIntyre, en route to the Vikings winning. And then Drew seethed.

It’s just so predictable that you can see it coming a mile away, making it unimaginative and not very entertaining. Watching a former world champion like Kingston get battered and look foolish as he gets tossed into another former world champ doesn’t sell this rivalry more.

What does make this three-way feud are good matches and compelling stories… not banana peels and miscommunication. This isn’t a bad 80s sitcom – although the writers might think that’s nirvana.
