5. Ricochet The Bridesmaid

After a standout match at SummerSlam, it felt like Ricochet was finally poised to break through in WWE. But in the past five weeks, he’s had just one televised match and has only been seen otherwise as a background player.

The One and Only finally got a chance on Monday night, and then, it was as Seth Rollins’ little buddy and stand-in. Ricochet saved the World Heavyweight Champion from a beating at Shinsuke Nakamura’s hand, then wrestled a decent – but ultimately meaningless – match that ended in a DQ when the King of Strong Style battered him with a chair.

Nakamura threatened to Pillmanize Ricochet, drawing Rollins out for the save, but ultimately, it was Ricochet saving Seth to close the segment.

Maybe Ricochet will parlay this into being in the world title picture. But this had every bit the feel of the high-flier being a sidekick here, a warm body to help advance the plot between champion and challenger, rather than an integral player.
