6 Ups & 6 Downs From WWE Raw (March 7)

Downs…

6. ‘Who’s Going To WrestleMania?’

Wrestling announcers are salesmen, trying to convince fans to buy an upcoming PPV or stay tuned to the rest of the show.

So it’s understandable that the Raw announcers would keep harping on the fact that the winner of the Raw Tag Team Championship triple threat match would punch their tickets to WrestleMania 38 with the tag titles. But in typical WWE fashion, they overdid it.

Corey Graves repeatedly pondered, “Who’s going to WrestleMania?” at every commercial break and during the match, to the point where you wanted to muzzle the guy. It sounded like Vince McMahon was in his ear telling him to yell it louder each time so people didn’t change the channel.

While that’s understandable from a salesmanship standpoint, what wasn’t forgivable was Graves then asking whether this was the “greatest triple threat tag team match we’ve ever seen.” As good as that match Monday night, it’s debatable whether it was the best triple threat tag team match this week.

Again, these are minor quibbles, picking on hucksters and carnival barkers, but still, we’re gonna give it a small “down” here.
