6 Ups & 6 Downs From WWE SummerSlam 2020

Downs…

6. Barely A ‘Main Event’ Match

No, we’re not talking about the main event of a PPV, we’re talking about the C-show itself, Main Event.

And the match in question is Mandy Rose versus Sonya Deville. Oh, they tried, and WWE tried to make you care about this rivalry with a decent video package, but it just wasn’t any good. They had a no-DQ stipulation that barely came into play, save for a couple gut shots with a steel chair. They were supposed to be in a bitter, vicious feud, but other than yelling at each other a lot, it looked a lot like any other women’s match, just sloppier.

Also, if you removed the knee for Mandy’s offense, she’d have no moves whatsoever. It’s like she was channelling 1996-vintage Triple H.

Stick this on Main Event or if you had to, SmackDown, but this wasn’t even a palate cleanser. It was a total waste.
