4. A Step Too Far

Ace Austin vs. Petey Williams was a fine match. Of course it was. We know they can do something special together because we've seen this match before, and it was good then as well. 'The One True Ace' would come out on top as he put away the X division legend, but after the match, Austin took another step in the wrong direction.

The reigning X Division Champion insisted on dedicating his victory to Trey's mother before signalling towards her with the signature Rascalz taunt, further raising the tensions before their title match at Hard To Kill. This is common for Ace to do, as we know, but where was Trey during all this? He didn't seem to bother too much that his 12 January opponent was targeting his family. Sure, he spoke out about it during a backstage segment, but that's far from enough.

While Ace targeting Trey's mother does add more fuel to the fire, he's not exactly saying anything that Dez and Wentz haven't also stated. Trey's Rascalz partners have also commented on her looks, so why is it any different to what Austin is doing? Sure, the champion is doing it for an entirely different reason, but it's still the same comments.

Regardless, the involvement of Trey's mother in this story was never going to make for easy explaining.
