6 Ups & 7 Downs From WWE WrestleMania 42 - Saturday (Results & Review)

1. No Story, No Problem

WWE WrestleMania 42 Gunther Seth Rollins
WWE

The abridged build for Seth Rollins versus Gunther centered on a very simple premise: Who is the best?

Rather than fuss about with a lockup or slow burn of technical wrestling, the two just threw hands and lobbed bombs at each other, trading clotheslines and chops, and going for their knockout punches repeatedly. Gunter powerbombed Seth several times, and Rollins delivered a few stomps, including one on the announce desk after the two tumbled outside for a fantastic brawl on the floor.

Rollins looked to be in control after that stomp, but a returning Bron Breakker cut him down with a spear, allowing Gunther to put Seth to sleep.

In contrast to the WWE Championship feud, which got mired and buried in a mountain of unnecessary nonsense, this ultra-short and simple feud clicked in a very un-WWE way, and Gunther and Rollins wrestled accordingly: no frills.

On a night when the wrestling and moments weren’t spectacular, this stood out as the best (in-ring) moment of the night.
