6 Ups & 7 Downs From WWE WrestleMania 42 - Saturday (Results & Review)

3. An Overbooked Mess

The second half of the WWE Championship match is likely to be more divisive than almost anything on the night.

For some, the overbooked ga-ga will be a welcome addition that sent fans into a frenzy. But for others, it was just a mess. Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton stole each other’s finishers; a blinded Orton RKO’d the referee; Pat McAfee ran in as a ref; both men bled; and Cody hit a low blow.

Afterward, Orton blasted Cody with the title and punted him to close out the show.

There’s so much that happened here, but for a main event that should have been a simple match between two longtime friends, they poured about a gallon of booking into a pint glass.
