File this one under “Short-Term Booking Woes.”

WWE spent months booking Jeff Hardy like a jobber, and now they’ve suddenly decided to treat him like a legend who can still go, and if you beat him, it might mean something.

So why does this get an “up”?

We’ll give it the short-term memory approach here, noting that Hardy hung with United States Champion Damian Priest last week and pulled out the win against Sheamus, earning a spot in the US title match at Extreme Rules. Also, Hardy adds a different element to a match we’ve seen multiple times now, so that change is definitely welcome to freshen things up.

It would be nice though if WWE could think more than one week down the road. Maybe next time, don’t have a guy chasing the 24/7 Championship if you’re going to stick him in a US title feud a few weeks later.
