6 Ups And 1 Down From Last Night's NXT (29th Apr)

1. Worst Of Both Worlds

Drake Maverick
NXT

Much like his last match, Drake Maverick took part in a really entertaining, hard-hitting, narrative-led, pro-wrestling match. But again, it's one that's so overshadowed by the direction WWE has gone with it that it's difficult to derive any real enjoyment from it.

To repeat. If Drake Maverick being fired by WWE is a work, then they're trying to elicit interest in pro-wrestling tournament by leaning into the genuine, life-altering despair that's being felt by the 26 million Americans who have lost their jobs in the last 5 weeks.

If it's not a work, then they're still trying to elicit interest in pro-wrestling tournament by leaning into the genuine, life-altering despair that's being felt by the 26 million Americans who have lost their jobs in the last 5 weeks, while simultaneously adding someone else to that grim statistic.

We're watching pro-wrestling to try and forget about everything that's going on in the world, not to give a sizeable percentage of the audience a stark reminder about the real-life catastrophes they're currently trying to survive.
