6 Ups And 1 Down From WWE NXT (24 Jun)

2. Strong Place At The Wrong Time

Contrast to the down I've just given Aliyah vs Rhea Ripley, this is a pretty weird up to be handing out as, in truth, I didn't particularly enjoy this segment. We've had these great Undisputed Era segments over the last two weeks, really showcasing the group's range and selling this idea that Roddy Strong is terrified of Dexter Lumis. It should have lent itself to a fascinating match, not a countout without a punch being thrown.

But if the object of the segment was to sell us all on just how sinister and intimidating Lumis is, and tell us more about unraveling state of Strong's mind, then it's an unreserved triumph. The He-Don't-Blink schtick should have gotten old weeks ago and yet, purely through what it's doing to Strong, it's great TV.

We'll get a proper match eventually, and it says a lot about this programme that a few more weeks of O'Reilly acting the therapist or elaborate car-boot segments doesn't feel like a bad thing. With Cole embroiled in the title pictures for both single's belts and the tag division benefitting from the group's absence, it's a really entertaining way to keep their wheels spinning.
