As we creep towards the end of a whirlwind of a 12 months, this week NXT decided to give us an early Christmas present in the form of one of the most stacked cards of 2020.

Not only were we going to witness Pete Dunne and Kyle O'Reilly battle it out to decide the new number #1 contender for Finn Balor's NXT Championship, Toni Storm and Rhea Ripley were also set to renew hostilities in an almost guaranteed slobber-knocker. Not content with just offering up these two mouth-watering impending showdowns, though, Triple H and the gang also decided to unleash a returning Karrion Kross on an unfortunate squash-victim on the night.

Along with those blockbuster events, last night's show also boasted a star-making performance from a former Thatch Academy student, Johnny Gargano's team of goons officially showing us The Way, and a performer being battered by a miniature version of themselves.

NXT may not have been able to maintain the incredibly high standards set in 2019 during this unprecedented year. But, if this week's impressive show was anything to go by, the future may just offer a glimmer of hope for this once untouchable brand.
