6 Ups And 10 Downs From WWE Fastlane 2016

3. Wasted Opportunity

Heading into the Cutting Edge Peep Show, one of the popular rumors was that Edge & Christian would help debut a new tag team to challenge the New Day for the WWE Tag Team Championships. After all, New Day have held the tag titles since August and beaten nearly every team in WWE, so it would only be logical.

And then, New Day ran down some of the teams they€™ve beaten: the Ascension, the Usos, the Dudley Boyz and the League of Nations. It really felt like the segment was building to E&C introducing the latest NXT call-ups to challenge New Day €“ perhaps Enzo Amore & Colin Cassidy. That would have been electric and a great payoff to a talk show segment on a PPV. It would have set the stage for WrestleMania and given a new tag team an endorsement from one of WWE€™s most legendary duos.

But alas, we simply got the League of Nations answering the insults. It literally was the most underwhelming option available, and that€™s what we got. WWE clearly is trolling the fans, right?
