6 Ups And 10 Downs From WWE Fastlane 2016

2. No Turns On The Fastlane

In the weeks leading up to Fastlane, there were numerous rumors and speculation floating around about heel turns and other major developments that could happen to spice up this No Man€™s Land PPV. Aside from determining a #1 contender, there really wasn€™t much at stake. (The three title matches weren€™t particularly suspenseful.)

There was the likely possibility that the tenuous Sasha Banks/Becky Lynch alliance would evaporate, either during the match or immediately afterward, leading to the two of them sparring and then challenging Charlotte at WrestleMania. For weeks, we€™ve been teased with Chris Jericho turning heel to liven up his character. Losing to newcomer AJ Styles certainly would justify that, and Y2J teased it throughout the bout. And Dean Ambrose certainly could have turned on his brother Roman Reigns, leaving Roman with no one in his corner and having to go it alone.

None of those happened. Sasha and Becky played nice. Jericho shook AJ€™s hand after teasing a punch. And Ambrose waffled Reigns with a chair, but he didn€™t betray Roman after the match was over.

In short, the most boring options were chosen in each case. We didn€™t need three heel turns, but at least one major development would€™ve been nice to make Fastlane more than a speedbump.
