6 Ups And 10 Downs From WWE TLC 2019
8. A Disappointing Tag Team Affair
When it was announced that the Viking Raiders would be issuing an open challenge for the Raw Tag Team Championships, your mind started racing with possible opponents: a returning Usos, or maybe a newly anointed “it” tandem of AOP.
Instead it was Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows. However, they quickly made it into something by noting that they are the only team to defeat the Raiders in WWE, for the Best in the World trophy. That added immediate heft to the match – though it raised the question of why do this as an open challenge.
And then the match itself happened. It wasn’t a bad bout, but it then ended in a double count-out, leading to a “bulls***” chant from the Minnesota fans who had been chanting “Skol!” for the Viking Raiders (because the local NFL team is the Vikings). So we got a bad ending to an open challenge match that also deflated the fans in attendance who were behind the tag champs because they share a name with their beloved football team.
Got all that?
At least they paid off the dumb KFC table nicely without it devolving into smearing mashed potatoes in someone’s face.
