5. Carmella's Story Evolves

I've always had trouble getting behind the Carmella character. Sure, she manages Enzo and Cass, has a few catchphrases and wrestles some fairly decent matches, but I don't know anything about her and I think it's hurt her progression in NXT. Luckily, after her winning the NXT Women's Battle Royal and a title match with Bayley next week, this week there was a focus on learning more about Carmella's character. In a sit-down interview with Tom Phillips, we finally found out that her Dad was a wrestler back in the 90s and was used as an enhancement talent in WWE. We are then shown clips of her on Breaking Ground as she talks about the hard work she's put in to get to this point in her career. She wraps up by talking about her friendship with Bayley and how they'll put it aside to fight for the Championship. It was a great interview and finally explained why we as an audience should get behind The Princess of Staten Island. Carmella also had a match with Emma on this episode which was a lot of fun and showed a serious side to her, giving you the impression she wants to win the title next week as she was able to beat a veteran like Emma. She has her biggest match to date in just seven days time.
