6 Ups And 2 Downs From WWE NXT (May 25)

1. A Little Too Generic

Bronson Reed

Hmm.

Bronson Reed's steel cage match win over Johnny Gargano bagged him the North American Title last week. It also raised the stock of the big bruiser and suggested that WWE has full faith in him. Why did they script this unremarkable and boring 'follow your dreams' speech then?

Reed's inspirational chatter fell a bit flat, and it wasn't the best first step for a new champion. Worse, Santos Escobar's unnecessary weight jibe hints that WWE think focusing on Bronson's belly is the way to go. It isn't, obviously. If anything, it's stupid and lazy writing.

The whole segment, from Reed's promo and Santos' bold claims, was just a little bit too bland. Bronson was put in the 2018 Nia Jax mould here, and it was slightly awkward. He's too good a worker to be settling for this kind of generic sh*te.
