6 Ups And 3 Downs From WWE NXT (Aug 24)
Ups...
6. A Feel Good Million Dollar Moment
In a welcome change of pace, this week's black and gold show got underway on the back of an apparent two-day bender involving the new Million Dollar Champion Cameron Grimes and the OG Million Dollar Man Ted DiBiase.
Accompanied by some sparkly new pyro, The Dogefather and his trusty mentor took to the CWC to the sound of the NXT faithful serenading their champ with cries of "to the moon!". In short, it was just a lovely sight all round. And there wasn't much more to it than that, but there didn't really need to be.
DiBiase confessed that his goal all along since arriving on Tuesday nights was to find the new face to carry on the Million Dollar Legacy, someone possessing both physical prowess and a heart of gold, and Grimes ticked those boxes and then some in the end. The new champ then completed his redemption arc by admitting that he got a little carried away with his bank balance early on, but that scrubbing toilets taught him some humility, so much so that he couldn't sit by and watch Ted be forced to perform that same task for the pr*ckish LA Knight.
Signing off with Grimes-printed money raining down from the sky, sometimes it's enough just to see the good guy get their moment.
But just what does the future hold for the high rolling hit superstar? Judging from his touching goodbye with DiBiase later in the night, boasting a charming title switcheroo from legit to replica for Grimes, it looks like he's on his own again going forward. So, push him to the moon and get that NXT title around his waist sooner rather than later!
