6 Ups And 3 Downs From WWE NXT (Aug 24)
5. Holland Lets Rip, And Burch Makes His Return
You could pretty much guarantee one thing coming into Ridge Holland and Timothy Thatcher's collision on this week's NXT; things were about to get violent.
Determined to deliver on that expectation, the two sluggers held nothing back from minute-one, both trying to decapitate each other with uppercuts early before Thatcher did his level best to out-think his rival and isolate various parts of his anatomy. The only problem with that strategy is the fact that Holland is a very literal mountain of muscle, meaning that just about every submission and grappling exchange was dominated by the monstrous Yorkshireman.
Then, just when it looked like Toothless Timmy had tapped into his inner b*astard, a sickening slap to Holland's face seemed to set the Northerner off as he quickly delivered a head-butt followed by a nasty slam of sorts for the victory.
A vital win was quickly overshadowed by some post-match afters, however, with Tommaso Ciampa fighting off Pete Dunne, only to be jumped by a returning Danny Burch alongside Oney Lorcan - are they finally going to get inserted back into the NXT Tag Team Championship scene now? They never lost the damn belts!
Dunne restrained his powerhouse pal before he could inflict anymore punishment on a wounded Thatch and Ciampa, but the message was sent loud and clear anyway; NXT has a new scrap-lovin' faction to worry about, and they weren't finished here for the night.
