News flash: AJ Styles and Finn Balor had a really good wrestling match Saturday night.

In other news, the sun rose in the east and the sky is blue.

But seriously, after the madness that was the women’s WarGames match to open Survivor Series, getting a fundamentally sound match between two master craftsmen like Styles and Balor was a perfect transition. The two put together a very solid, fun match that saw Finn get his leg worked over throughout. Balor and Styles traded bombs, borrowed each other’s signature moves, and at one point managed to hit each other with Pele kicks in quick succession.

AJ would pick up the clean win, which kind of needed to happen after a couple of months of Judgment Day having the edge against Styles and the OC. Losing a hard-fought match like this was tough for Balor, but it’s far better than some dumb banana peel loss.

Finn and Judgment Day will live to fight another day, while Styles gets a measure of retribution. And we get a really good wrestling match. So there.
