6 Ups And 4 Downs From NXT Roadblock 2023

1. The Prodigy Bests The Final Boss

Roxanne Perez pretty much said she was going to have to do everything in her power to overcome her greatest challenge yet in Meiko Satomura at Roadblock Tuesday.

Throughout their NXT Women’s Championship match, the two traded reversals constantly while Perez absorbed numerous hard strikes and kicks from Satomura, who just poured it on. Roxanne managed to get the upper hand a few times, but she was constantly fighting from underneath, which makes perfect sense given the two wrestlers’ pedigrees.

But Perez countered Meiko’s attempt at a second Scorpio Rising, rolling her up with her last bit of energy to retain the title (with Satomura kicking out at 3.1). Afterward, Roxanne collapsed and had to be carted away on a stretcher, really driving home the point that she needed to use every bit of her strength to overcome the Final Boss.

Great story told throughout, with the stretcher job driving home the point and revealing a possible vulnerability for her next challenger.
