6 Ups And 4 Downs From NXT Roadblock 2023

2. Bron And Melo Won’t Miss

It’s about time that Bron Breakker and Carmelo Hayes finally crossed paths inside a ring. Fans know it, and the wrestlers themselves acknowledged it.

For a change, NXT didn’t try to overbook this challenge. You have the dominant NXT Champion in Breakker and the longest-reigning North American Champion in Hayes. They’ve never faced each other one-on-one. Don’t get cute and try to write some dramatic prose. Just have them make the match.

And that’s exactly what happened. Bron called out Melo and the two had a mutual admiration society before Hayes suggested Breakker put his title on the line at Stand and Deliver, which the champ quickly agreed to. And that was it. The star power of the two wrestlers and their track records sold the match, not some overwrought drama or lengthy promo.

For the record, this match could be the best one on the card if both men bring their A-game, and there’s no reason to think they won’t.
