6 Ups And 4 Downs From WWE Money In The Bank 2023
3. Dominik Gets His
The temptation had to be there to have Cody Rhodes versus Dominik Mysterio run for a long time and try to be something it wasn’t. This is, after all, WWE.
But we got a really nice match that didn’t try to be anything more than it was: an opportunity for Cody to get his hands on Dom and teach him a lesson. Mysterio tried running at the outset, but once Rhodes caught him, Dominik was outmatched. He only got the upper hand when Rhea Ripley got involved, and even then, Cody never felt like he was in jeopardy of losing.
They didn’t even go for an extended heat spot. Mysterio went for a 619, Cody caught it, hit an Alabama Slam, Cody Cutter, Cross-Rhodes, goodnight Dom-Dom.
This was a perfect little diversion feud for Rhodes, eating up a few weeks between Brock Lesnar matches, and never really taking itself too seriously. If anything, it was a perfect science experiment of putting a massively over babyface against a super-hot heel and letting it go.
