6 Ups And 4 Downs From WWE NXT 2.0 (Nov 16)
2. Wagner And O'Reilly's Unspectacular Rise
After rocking up on SmackDown on Friday night, NXT quickly brushed off that Von Wagner development, or rather Kyle O'Reilly did, in favour of the two focusing on their potential contendership contest with Josh Briggs and Brooks Jensen last night. Seriously, Vince just does not care what's happening on this show, folks.
And in truth, the NXT faithful apparently feel that same way about anything involving the aforementioned Wagner, with the charisma vacuum's many power ups and "slug fest" battles with Briggs in this contest going off like a damp sparkler. O'Reilly must be saluted for consistently doing all he can to imbue a sense of purpose or technical prowess into these matches designed to get over the currently-vanilla next-gen, but there was simply nothing to get excited about here.
Imperium watching on (like actual human beings, for a change) seems to suggest that Kool Kyle and Wagner could be next in line for a shot at the NXT Tag Team titles post win last night. But is anyone really champing at the bit to see the odd couple fall to pieces on the big stage and suddenly turn on one another because "they just couldn't get along"? This all feels like filler for anyone not named Wagner, and Adam Pearce's bodyguard doesn't seem to be benefiting from that fact, either. What a mess.
