6 Ups And 4 Downs From WWE WrestleMania 37 - Night 1

1. Four Mini-Matches = DUD

No one was expecting the women’s tag team turmoil match to be anything more than a palate cleanser, but wow… that just left you feeling dirtier.

Five “tag teams” battled Saturday for a shot at the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship on Night Two, with each of the four matches being somewhere between passable and abysmal. Lana & Naomi lost to a rollup. Carmella & Billie Kay lost to a senton after a nothing match against the Riott Squad. Mandy Rose & Dana Brooke lost a sloppy bout when Liv Morgan rolled up Brooke after she hit a Swanton Bomb.

And finally, Natalya & Tamina ran over the Riott Squad in the most passable match of the evening, if only because the two veterans really held things together. So Nattie and Tamina will get a shot at the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship, which might be a decent match given the competitors.

But why did we have to get this match at Mania and the SmackDown Tag Team Championship match was on Friday night? If anything, this match showed the lack of depth in the women’s division in WWE right now.
