6 Ups And 5 Downs From WWE NXT 2.0 (Dec 14)
1. Grizzled Young Fools
There was a time when it felt like the arrival of The Grizzled Young Veterans on weekly NXT television felt like the shake-up the division was in desperate need of. Here you had two of the most formidable and all-round impressive workers the UK version of the brand had to offer, as equally adept on the mic as they were in-between the ropes with their corner-cutting stylings.
A reasonably hot start has since given way to one of the most soul-crushing runs currently going down within the multi-coloured walls of the CWC, however, as Zack Gibson and James Drake's new roles as NXT's walking punchlines were cemented once again last night.
Coming up against fellow comedic relief characters KUSHIDA and Ikemen Jiro, a heart-breaking confession in its own right, GYV were inevitably cost the match due to their actions a week earlier coming back to haunt them in the form of The Creed Bros. wanting a measure of revenge for the lads ring rope plan backfiring.
As predicted, the Diamond Mine men's intervention gave way to a Jacket Time win, via admittedly impressive senton leg sweep combo, but the result left a lot to be desired. Jacket Time don't feel like credible NXT Tag Team Championship contenders after a distraction-assisted victory. The Creed Bros. lost a week ago. Brooks and Jensen are busy dancing in a field. And GYV just lost yet again here. What a competitive division, eh.
