6 Ups And 6 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (April 27th)

3. U.S. Title Gets A Boost

This bears repeating every now and again: John Cena is doing more to help elevate the United States Championship than people realize. Coming out every week and offering to defend the title against all comers is such a throwback mentality that it€™s refreshing to see it in 2015. Plus, Cena is good enough that he can have a good match with anyone. He€™s already had solid bouts with Dean Ambrose, Bad News Barrett and Stardust to name a few. Sure, you can make the argument that Cena beating half your roster doesn€™t do them any favors, but consider: What€™s worse? This, or Barrett as Intercontinental Champion losing every non-title match and then having the belt stolen and passed around among six men for two months? It€™s fairly obvious that Cena€™s method makes the U.S. Championship seem more desirable in fans€™ eyes €“ as wrestlers line up week after week to fight for it €“ and it builds Cena up as a champ who eventually is going to get beaten. Whoever beats Cena, whether it€™s at Payback or sometime down the road, hopefully will get a nice boost from it, and the U.S. title also will hopefully be a proud championship once again. At least it isn€™t getting stolen on a weekly basis.
