6 Ups And 6 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (June 26)
3. Bray Talks, We Tune Out
Once upon a time, this writer took notes on Bray Wyatt’s promos and would grade them. Then Wyatt started losing a lot of his feuds. Then Bray kept treading water and never following through on his threats and promises from his promos.
Now, it’s merely a note: “B. Wyatt promo.” It doesn’t matter what he says or how masterfully he says it. It almost doesn’t matter if Wyatt wins at Great Balls of Fire in two weeks. He’s not going to suddenly go on a tear and become a top-flight heel who dominates opponents. He’s going to be the guy who delivers these superb promos and then either loses his match or wins initially before being thwarted. Then he’ll move on to his next target, making the same general promises and threats.
Want to change that, WWE? Let Bray be more than a good mouthpiece. Make him an actual threat who wins matches and triumphs in feuds. Have him shut down wrestlers and put them on the shelf. Have him follow through on some of his promos.
Just do something different, because when someone who takes notes on an in-show KFC commercial puts his pen down for a Bray Wyat promo, you know you have problems.
