6 Ups And 6 Downs From WWE WrestleMania 36 (Part 2)

3. Otis Gets The Girl

As a match, Otis versus Dolph Ziggler was never going to be Kurt Angle/Shawn Michaels, but as a storyline, this might have been one of the better ones on the WrestleMania 36 card.

Otis learned Friday that it was Sonya Deville who had sent a false text to him, ruining his date with Mandy Rose, then deleted the evidence. This capped off a months-long storyline and set the table for Sunday’s grudge match. The bout itself could have used a little more aggression from Otis, who whipped Ziggler in the turnbuckles a bunch of times when he should have been going berserk on him.

But the climax came when Sonya distracted the ref and Dolph hit Otis with a low blow, so Mandy came out and repaid the favor to Ziggler, allowing Otis to hit the Caterpillar for the win.

And then Otis swooped Mandy off her feet… and they shared a kiss. You can “aww” or gag, whatever your pleasure. But this was the right call for the angle and worked well. It obviously would’ve worked better with an audience to react.
