Tag matches involving feuding wrestlers can sometimes serve as vehicles to “get over” a superstar by having him mow through the opposition. We’ve seen Cesaro do it before as he ran around the ringside area leveling everyone in sight.

Monday night, Austin Aries had a flurry of offense on TJ Perkins and Neville that had both cruiserweights reeling. He managed to put both wrestlers down on the floor, then dove to take them out. Moments later, with a little help from partner Jack Gallagher, Aries put Perkins down with the Discus Five-Arm for the win.

Just like that, the #1 contender for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship had shown singular focus and looked strong heading into Payback, without sacrificing Neville in the process.
