6 Ups And 7 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (Oct 14)

2. The Executives

As bad as McMahons as authority figures are, having faceless FOX and USA “executives” act as the figurehead leaders of Raw and SmackDown is about the dumbest thing imaginable.

It didn’t help that the announcers on both SmackDown last week and Raw Monday night constantly referred to “the executives” and their deliberations, or crediting them for such a smart draft pick, or wondering aloud who the suits would be impressed by and choose next.

The entire concept is just ridiculous. Rather than a wrestling company putting on the best show, we had TV networks “drafting” talent for their program. It’s mind-numbingly stupid… especially when you got looks into their respective “war rooms.” Oh, yeah, that was the FOX NFL “robot” in there – a computer-generated graphic represented in real life by a dude in a costume making decisions about which superstars should come to SmackDown.

This is a real thing that happened, and it’s not going to age well. Five years from now, if they ever do a reprise of “Are You Serious?,” this will absolutely make the cut.
