6 Ups And 7 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (Sept 26)

6. Nullifying The Series

The Cesaro vs. Sheamus Best of 7 series produced exciting, hard-hitting action every time the duo stepped into the ring. Both have had their ups and downs in WWE, but their rivalry was a welcome break from the contrived storylines taking place elsewhere on the card, and few could complain about the quality of the matches.

Unfortunately, WWE have now completely nullified the series by pairing Cesaro and Sheamus together and setting them loose as an awkward tag team. With the decisive match ending in a draw, Mick Foley announced that he couldn't let the duo wrestle again for fear of them injuring each other, but he'd deliver on their promise of a title opportunity. Cesaro and Sheamus would face the winners of Raw's New Day vs. Gallows & Anderson match, and after squashing a set of local talents, the match was set.

It's a deeply unsatisfying conclusion that renders the entire series pointless, and sells everyone short. Sheamus and Cesaro might be a fun tag team in the long-run, but the series should've been designed to propell one back towards the main event scene, not leave both languishing in Raw's lacklustre tag division.
